Rugby Model Engineering Society Ltd (operators of the Rainsbrook Valley Railway) has acquired additional land adjacent to their current site in Onley Lane to allow an expansion of their raised and ground level railways and to provide dedicated land for customer car parking on public open days.
The old RMES site of 4.5 acres has been extended by a further 7.5 acres giving 12 acres in total. The land has been leased from Rugby Borough Council in 2014 for a period of 50 years.
We have now extended the 7.1/4 inch gauge ground level track from its old length of 1000 metres to 1 Mile and have extended the raised track (5 and 3.1/2 and 2.1/2 inch gauge) from 335 metres to 731 metres which opened in July 2021.
Other major ancillary works have included the provision of a new roadway to the new car parking area and the provision of two 40 foot shipping containers for secure storage.
This programme will provide Rugby with one of the longest ground level and raised miniature railway tracks in the Midlands area and secure the amenity for the enjoyment local people in the long term.
Further details of our plans are at the bottom of this page and pictures of the new work are in the Gallery Section
